Founded in 2015, Shenzhen Biennale of Contemporary Art (hereinafter referred to as BCA) is a large-scale art exhibition focusing on contemporary art in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta. 2015 is the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. The first BCA took this opportunity to invite more than 100 artists, designers and architects, as well as a number of local art institutions in Shenzhen, with the support of the government and a number of enterprises. It successively displayed a variety of visual art forms including painting, sculpture, installation, image, design, etc. in the University Art Museum, Shekou value factory and bright smart city His works show the development of contemporary art in Shenzhen in 35 years. After the exhibition, he also published the exhibition literature of the same name.

In 2017, the second BCA began to set up an academic development committee, with existing members including Hou Hanru, Luan Qian, Wan Jie, Xu Wenyu, Yang Yang, Yang Yong, Zhao Chui, etc. The second BCA takes "city (is) Art Museum" as the theme, the curator is Yang Yong, and the exhibition executive team is Shangqi art. The exhibition chooses the art gallery as the starting point to sort out the urban cultural structure, and discusses the close relationship between the art gallery itself - from the concrete organization to the abstract concept - and the current urban and cultural development in a multi-dimensional way. During the one month exhibition, the exhibition will hold relevant public forums and special research projects.
