Looking back on the two most important concepts of Contemporary Art: "concept" and "form", it is not intended to be confined to the metaphysical field of philosophical cognition, not to launch another conceptual change, nor to return to the formal aesthetic order, but to explore the evolution of art practice in the contemporary context in the process of integrating contemporary art into daily practice.
The change of art concept and form is closely related to the background of the times, social changes and cultural thoughts. Art itself makes in-depth experiments on the exploration of ideas and the deduction of forms, explores individual living practice and subjective emotions, enters into the public domain and involves society, and integrates the methodology of sociology, anthropology, computer science and other disciplines. Different creators and different periods of artistic creation are like slice sampling from different historical stages, reflecting different life reality and cultural concerns.
The daily development of contemporary art, which is close to the public in form, is not necessarily accepted by the public in concept; it not only goes to the public space, but also may become a part of Commerce and entertainment, losing the function of speech and criticism. In the nearly 40 years of accelerated development and change, Chinese contemporary art has made different balanced practices in terms of concept and form in the process of daily development. Looking at the concept and form of contemporary art, in the process of sampling and presenting this practice, this exhibition will rethink the distance between Chinese contemporary art and the audience, and reconstruct new aesthetics in the transformation of concept, which will probably re understand the significance of contemporary art in daily practice.
